Susan Dell Net Worth 2026, How Rich Is Michael Dell’s Wife?

Susan Dell Net Worth

The latest published estimate puts Susan Dell’s net worth at about $5.8 billion. The figure came from a February 2026 Wall Street Journal analysis based on Altrata wealth data.

However, that figure changed a lot during 2026 because Dell Technologies stock climbed sharply. Susan and the Susan Lieberman Dell Separate Property Trust are tied to more than 31 million Dell shares, and the market value attached to those shares rose by billions of dollars as the stock moved higher.

Dell’s 2026 proxy lists 29,890,896 Class A shares held through the trust and another 1,380,000 Class C shares associated with Susan. Dell Class C closed at $574 on October 6.

Class A does not trade separately, but each share can convert into one Class C share. At $574, the disclosed block has a conversion-equivalent value of roughly $17.9 billion.

That is not the same as saying Susan Dell is worth exactly $17.9 billion. The $5.8 billion figure is a published estimate of her personal fortune. The larger number is what one known Dell position was worth at the October market price.

Her Dell Shares Were Not Bought During the 2026 Rally

Susan already had the shares before Dell stock took off. The company reported the same 29.89 million Class A shares and 1.38 million Class C shares in its 2024 proxy.

So there was no giant 2026 purchase behind the jump in value. The holdings stayed almost unchanged. The stock price did the moving.

Holding Shares Value
Class A 29,890,896 About $17.2 billion*
Class C 1,380,000 About $792 million
Total 31,270,896 About $17.9 billion

*Class A has no separate public market price. The estimate uses the one-for-one Class C conversion right and the October 6 Class C close.

The table also explains why a single net worth number can go stale so fast. At $128 per share, 31.27 million shares come to about $4 billion. At $574, the same share count is worth almost $18 billion.

Dell Stock Had an Exceptional 2026

Dell Class C traded near $128 at the start of the year and reached $574 by October 6. The company was one of the big beneficiaries of spending on AI servers and data-center infrastructure.

Dell reported $34.1 billion in AI orders during its fourth quarter, along with a $43 billion AI backlog. Full-year AI orders reached $64.1 billion.

Those numbers help explain why the stock moved so far. They also explain why Susan’s fortune is difficult to freeze at one figure for all of 2026.

A 6% move in a $17.9 billion block changes its value by roughly $1.1 billion. For comparison, that single swing equals about 19% of the entire $5.8 billion estimate published in February.

Michael Dell Is Far Richer, but Susan Has Her Own Holdings

Michael Dell was worth more than $270 billion during September, according to his Forbes profile. His fortune is on a completely different scale.

That huge number is also why Susan is so easily described only as the wife of Michael Dell. The filings give a fuller picture. A separate property trust carrying her name has held tens of millions of Dell shares for years.

Simply dividing Michael Dell’s fortune between the couple would be wrong. Ignoring Susan’s own documented holdings would also give readers a false picture.

Southwest Journal has run into similar problems when looking at Eric Swalwell net worth and Bernie Sanders net worth. Public records often give us enough information to challenge a headline number without giving us every asset and liability needed for an exact total.

Susan Dell Had a Career Before Philanthropy Became Her Main Work

Susan moved to Austin in the late 1980s and worked in real estate before going into fashion. She later founded three clothing labels, including Phi, which launched in 2003 and closed in 2009.

A People profile also reports that she designed inaugural dresses for Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush in 2001.

Fashion did not create the fortune attached to her name today. It does tell us that Susan had her own business career long before the Dell family foundation became the work people most closely associated with her.

Michael and Susan married in 1989 and have four adult children, Alexa, Kira, Juliette and Zachary. Zachary co-founded Base Power, an Austin company that combines electricity service with residential battery systems. Kira founded Adaptive Water, which works on water capture and reuse systems.

The 2026 Dell proxy does not list any of the four children by name in its beneficial ownership table. The large disclosed position discussed here sits with Susan and her separate property trust, not with the children.

Philanthropy Now Takes Up Much More of Her Public Life

Michael and Susan created the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in 1999. Susan serves as founder and board chair, and her foundation biography says the couple have committed $10 billion to nonprofit and social-enterprise work.

In December 2025, they announced a $6.25 billion commitment for investment accounts worth $250 each for 25 million eligible American children. The arithmetic is direct. Twenty-five million accounts multiplied by $250 equals $6.25 billion.

Foundation money still has to stay separate from Susan’s personal wealth. A May SEC filing lists 27.65 million shares in Diameter Dynamic Credit Fund under the foundation structure. Those holdings belong to the charitable organization.

Final Thoughts

The latest published estimate is $5.8 billion. That is the number tied to a formal wealth estimate from February 2026.

However, Dell stock moved so far after that estimate that the number now needs an explanation beside it. By October, the Dell shares disclosed under Susan and her separate property trust had a conversion-equivalent value close to $17.9 billion.

No public filing gives us everything needed to turn that stock value into a new exact personal net worth. Trust terms, taxes, other assets and liabilities are not all laid out for the public.

What the filings do show is straightforward. Susan Dell has a major Dell fortune connected directly to her own name, and its market value rose dramatically during 2026. Her wealth is not simply a slice of Michael Dell’s fortune, and the old $5.8 billion estimate no longer tells the full story by itself.
