I read with interest the two articles about Lake Calhoun. Previously, I was unaware that the lake was named for John C. Calhoun.
I also did not know anything about him. I am in agreement with those who believe that he should not be honored by our community. I wonder, however, if it would be more productive to concentrate on the positive and not the disgraceful.
Could there be a campaign to rename the lake in honor of some individual worthy community respect, instead of focusing on removing the name of such a flawed individual?
