Washburn High School and the southwest Minneapolis community has witnessed the loss of a gifted, energetic and dedicated leader at Washburn High School.
As a friend and neighbor of Carol I was amazed by the many talks we had about her passion to make Washburn a great high school. Her belief that all students deserved a great education and no one subset of students should benefit over the others was to me a hallmark of her vision of how education and social justice are so interconnected.
She turned around a school that had been floundering for many years in mediocrity and turn the school into a vibrant place where students were loved and recognized for what they were.
Washburns loss will become a huge gift for the school or organization that discovers this amazing person.
