Finalists for Minneapolis Public Schools’ open superintendent position are scheduled to meet with the public Monday at a community reception.
The names of the finalists have not yet been released, but the district announced a reception for the finalists 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Monday at the Davis Center, 1250 W. Broadway Ave. A panel with district stakeholders, including principals, staff and community members, takes place Monday morning.
According to a schedule released by the district, the Board of Education will interview three finalists on May 17, the day after the community reception. The candidates are also scheduled to tour district schools the morning before the interviews.
The district has been without a permanent superintendent since Bernadeia Johnson resigned in early 2015. The first search for her replacement ended this winter without the board hiring any of the finalists.
Last week, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities announced it hired Interim Superintendent Michael Goar for its next CEO. Goar is scheduled to start his new job in early June.
The board plans to honor Goar when it meets tonight.
