A new network of working moms launched this fall, and it’s growing fast.

The group began after Jen Wright noticed several women posting on who were interested in connecting with other working moms. She and fellow mom Nicole Kaai set up the new Facebook group SW Mpls Working Moms and within a week, nearly 300 women joined. More than 60 women expressed interest in attending the first happy hour last month at Harriet’s Inn.

“They’re just so glad to have a group where we can all be in solidarity with each other,” Wright said.

Working moms often miss out on weekday playdates but still want to connect with other parents, she said.

“We can really customize it around the working mom,” she said.

Wright lives in Southwest Minneapolis with her husband, two-year-old son, six-month-old daughter and their Boston Terrier. She works full-time and runs a small business helping people with nutrition and athletic performance.

“My life is definitely crazy busy,” she said. “It’s so important to stay connected with people in the area.”
