Police report that a man molested an adult woman as she walked home from a bar around 2-2:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17 near Lake & Colfax.
According to police: The woman was walking alone when she noticed a man riding a bike nearby. He followed her, got off his bike and held on to her as she walked, claiming he was helping her because she was intoxicated. He reached under her clothing and molested her, police said.
Police described the man as Native American with a light build, 20-35 years old, with a black ponytail that reached to his armpit. He rode a dark-colored street bike with straight handlebars, police said.
Anyone who can help identify the suspect can call the Sex Crimes unit at 673-3081 in reference to case number 16-134454.
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association’s Crime & Safety Committee is hosting a personal safety and self-defense workshop on Thursday, April 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the 5th Precinct, 3101 Nicollet Av S. The workshop is taught by Mary Brandl, an instructor who has a fourth-degree black belt and is author of the book “Scenarios in Self-Defense.”
The 5th Precinct is holding a training session for block leaders on Monday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the 5th Precinct.
