The City of Minneapolis is seeking applications for several open positions on city boards and commissions.
The city is hoping to attract applicants with a diverse set of backgrounds to help city leaders shape policies. The applications will be reviewed starting on Oct. 13. There are open positions on the following boards and commissions:
— Capital Long-Range Improvements Committee: Helps make recommendations to the City Council and Mayor on the five-year capital improvement program.
— Charter Commission: Reviews and formulates charter proposals.
— Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council: Works to increase access to high quality food for all residents and support the local food economy.
— Minneapolis Advisory Committee on Aging: Advises city leaders on issues impacting senior citizens.
— Minneapolis Arts Commission: Focuses on strengthening the city’s arts and cultural scene.
— Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights: Promotes and protects civil rights of Minneapolis citizens.
— Minneapolis Planning Commission: Hears and decides applications for land use reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on planning decisions.
— Minneapolis Police Conduct Oversight Commission: Focuses on making sure police services are delivered in a lawful and nondiscriminatory manner.
— Minneapolis Public Housing Authority Board: Oversees the agency’s annual budget and sets policy goals.
— Public Health Advisory Committee: Advises the City Council and Health Department on police matters impacting the health of city residents.
The City Council and Mayor make appointments for boards and commissions twice a year — in the spring and fall.
