City taking applications for Workplace Regulations Partnership

The city is now taking nominations for open positions on the 15-member Workplace Regulations Partnership — a new group charged with developing policy recommendations to the City Council on paid sick time policies.

The partnership will include a mix of people, including representatives of low-wage workers, organized labor, employers and business groups.

People interested in being considered for the partnership should send the following to the City Clerk’s Office at cityclerk@minneapolismn.gov no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9: full name, home address, phone number, email address, stakeholder group they would represent and a cover letter explaining interest in joining the group, background experience and why they believe their background would be relevant to the goals of the partnership.

The City Council’s Committee of the Whole will consider appointments to the partnership on Nov. 18.

The partnership will be tasked with engaging the community as it considers sick time proposals and has a deadline of Feb. 24 to issue a final report with recommendations to the Council.
