Andrea Brennan appointed as city’s new housing director

Andrea Brennan, a former Dakota County official, has been appointed as the city’s new Housing Policy and Development director.

Brennan takes on a post that has been vacant since April when Tom Streitz, the city’s former housing director, left the job to become head of Twin Cities Rise!, a job training program.

She will start Feb. 12 and said she’s “honored to join the CPED team.”

D. Craig Taylor, the city’s director of Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED), appointed Brennan to the job after a comprehensive search for applicants with the Chandler Group.

Brennan previously served as Dakota County’s Community and Economic Development director, and before that  role, she was the deputy executive director for the Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

“Andrea is a driven leader with 17 years of experience in all aspects of housing policy and development,” Taylor said. “I am confident that her skills and experience will help us to develop a housing strategy that leverages the city’s resources to better serve our residents.”

Mayor Betsy Hodges said Brennan will lead the city’s efforts to increase homeownership rates among all residents, especially those impacted by the foreclosure crisis.

“I know her leadership will help us do more to increase the availability of affordable family housing and expanded housing options for seniors,” she said.
