Local stores join Shop Your Values campaign

One-hundred Minnesota businesses have joined a campaign born out of Common Roots’ message last year stating “Hate Has No Business Here.”

The website shopyourvaluesmn.com provides a searchable map of businesses who are part of the campaign.

“Small businesses are using the sign as a message to the community about the values of equity, diversity, and equality and they are asking consumers to ‘Shop Your Values’ by supporting businesses that put community first,” states a news release from the Main Street Alliance. “In addition to encouraging shoppers to patronize businesses that take a stand against hateful rhetoric and violence, Shop Your Values asks customers to support businesses that work towards racial and economic justice including earned sick and safe time, retirement security, paid family leave, and investment in childcare funding and transportation.”

Participating businesses include Butter Bakery Café, Fontlove Studio, the 36Lyn gas station, Eye of Horus, Smitten Kitten, GYST, Glam Doll Donuts, Showroom, The Lowry Café, Reverie Cafe + Bar, Minuteman Press and b. resale.
