The Wedge, Eastside and Linden Hills co-ops are contemplating a merger.
In a letter sent to co-op members, Wedge CEO Josh Resnik and Wedge board chair Margie Hegstrom said leaders from the three co-ops have been meeting for several months to consider the opportunities and challenges of combining forces.
“Most simply, we believe we can do even more to support a vibrant local food system through a consolidated organization that brings together and builds on the history of these three great community co-ops,” they wrote.
If they move ahead with a merger, there would be no staff layoffs and the shopping experience would largely remain the same at the co-ops.
The co-ops plan to hold town hall meetings to discuss the proposed merger and take a vote on the plan in the fall.
Here’s a schedule of upcoming forums:
- Wedge Community Co-op meeting, Monday, July 11, 6 p.m. at the Wedge Table, 2412 Nicollet Ave. S.
