Golf pro and former Rudolph’s bartender Jay Hanson has opened a food truck stationed in the parking lot at Lyndale & Franklin across from the Wedge Co-op.

He previously lived in San Diego, fell in love with the local fish tacos, and couldn’t find anything quite like them in Minneapolis. So now he’s making his own Baja-inspired tacos with all the fixings.

Using Rudolph’s as the commissary kitchen, Hanson is preparing taco fillings like braised pork, fried avocado, crab cakes and smoked chicken. He particularly recommends the beer-battered fish taco and marinated steak taco.

“Customers keep coming back,” he said.

He’s seeing lots of walk-up traffic from neighbors, and as construction on Hennepin slows northbound vehicles, drivers are pulling over to grab food for the road.

Hours are typically 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday and 12-5 p.m. every-other Sunday. For more information, visit Turbo Taco on Facebook.
