Calhoun Square has a new tree lot open daily on Girard Avenue.
Tree sales benefit area neighborhood associations from East Calhoun, CARAG, Lowry Hill East and East Isles. The money will purchase bikes and bulletproof vests for 5th Precinct officers and will support other neighborhood initiatives: block clubs, movies in the park, community gardens and funding for disadvantaged students.
The sale runs thru Dec. 23, and tree lot hours are Monday thru Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday from 12-6 p.m. Pine and spruce trees are available from the Minnesota Tree Growers Association.
The Uptown Tree Lot is a partnership between Calhoun Square and Go 963 Radio.
Calhoun Square is also hosting a holiday music series each Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. in the first floor atrium. Upcoming performers include The Morning Kings on Dec. 2, Katy Vernon on Dec. 9, Javier Matos on Dec. 16, and Steven C on Dec. 23.
Calhoun Square has added several community events this season.
DJ Shiek will set up in the 2nd floor common seating area and play a “chill style” set every Friday from 6-7:30 p.m.
The Calhoun Square Winter Market continues every Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Calhoun Square is also reviving an old mall tradition called Artistreet. Artists will work live every Sunday from 12-4 p.m. on the first floor. Artists include Matt Hintz, Galactic Jems, Maggie Moore, Shane Anderson, Guillermo Valadez, Light The Underground, Katie Lynn, Chelsea Mann, Mollusk Art, Anna Hoover and Sean McKenna Photography.
