Artists have been working at Calhoun Square every Sunday in December, reviving “Artistreet,” which operated at the mall from about 1999-2003.
“We want it to be hip and fun and let up-and-coming artists show their stuff,” said Shane Anderson, who opened a gallery at Calhoun Square last August.
The artists set up at no cost, and they chat with passersby while working on pieces and selling art.
Artists have included Guillermo Valadez, Erin Armstrong, Heather Johnson, Maggie Moore’s “Art by Marjorie Rose,” Erica Chronowski, Galactic Jems, Light The Underground, Katie Lynn, Chelsea Mann, Mollusk Art, Anna Hoover, Sean McKenna Photography, Shane Anderson and Matt Hintz, who helped line up talent for the show.
Artistreet is one of several new events at the mall, running Sundays in December from 12-4 p.m. Free art workshops for kids are headed to Calhoun Square in January.
