New YogaFit Studios open around the clock

Twenty-four hour yoga has arrived on France Avenue.

The new YogaFit franchise is based on a regimen combining yoga and fitness developed by Beth Shaw of Los Angeles. The franchise operates under the Lift Brands parent company home to Steele Fitness and Snap Fitness.

“Beth Shaw and the Lift Brands team wanted to make yoga more accessible from a price, convenience, and schedule perspective,” said owner Ashok Dhariwal, who previously worked at Target Corporation and lives in Linden Hills.

He said YogaFit is an alternative to studios that either charge a high price or don’t offer many classes throughout the day. Instructor-led classes range from “Yoga Barre” to “Yoga Sweat,” a class taken in a dry 90-degree heat. When live classes aren’t available, members can access the studio to take classes alone or with friends, using one of 30 professional yoga videos played on a 70-inch screen.

“You can now do yoga at any time that meets your schedule — even if that’s at 2 in the morning,” Dhariwal said.

The Linden Hills studio at 4507 France Ave. S. also gives a portion of proceeds to charitable organizations.

Franchisees Dhariwal and his wife Shawna opened a YogaFit studio in Excelsior last spring — the second location in the country — with plans for more metro studios. Lift Brands aims to open 1,000 YogaFit locations in the next five years.
