The owners of Uptown Pawn at 301 W. Lake St. agreed to a $10,000 sanction last spring, after investigators determined a stolen and pawned Rolex watch was not documented as required.
According to license settlement documents, the business failed to provide an accurate description, report and receipt of the pawned item in the fall of 2013. Upon police inquiry, the owner retrieved the watch from a safe, saying he intended to process the paperwork but forgot he had placed the watch in the safe.
Of the $10,000 fine, $5,000 is stayed for two years provided there are no similar violations. The business also agreed to a seven-day business closure, with six days stayed pending no similar violations.
