Famous Dave’s restaurant will likely sit empty until the Linden Crossing groundbreaking late this summer, according to developer Mark Dwyer, who has an option to purchase the site.
“[Owner Jon Swenson] has been wondering out loud to me whether he was going to close now or go through the summer,” Dwyer said. “Knowing the deal was going to happen, it made sense for him to close at this point. The place is in pretty old condition.”
Swenson could not be reached for comment.
Linden Crossing no longer needs to pre-sell all of its units to start construction.
“There has been more investor interest in the product we’re offering,” Dwyer said. “They view this as a lower-risk location.”
Seven of 16 units are presold — Dwyer said the total unit count dropped down from 18 to improve the condo layouts.
Dwyer said he anticipates a compressed construction schedule to continue targeting a fall 2015 opening date.
