New brewery coming this fall to Midtown Global Market

A small brewery and tap room may open in the Midtown Global Market this fall.

Eastlake Craft Brewing has applied for a permit to brew and serve beer in a 2,000-square-foot space at the diverse small business hub.

Owner Ryan Pitman said that he will be brewing with a seven-barrel system, which would make Eastlake the smallest brewery in Minneapolis.

“We’re not looking to be a big thing, just a good neighborhood anchor,” he said. “I thought the market would be a great place because there’s kind of a craft beer hole in that area, you have to go pretty far in any direction to get craft beer.”

Eastlake will not distribute its beer, but there will be growler sales.

Pitman said that he is shooting for a September opening date and he will brew a mix of modern, American-style beers with some nods to the multitude of Mexican and Vietnamese restaurants in Midtown Global Market.

Eastlake’s application will be discussed at the City Planning Commission meeting April 7, according to a city spokesperson.
