For anyone missing laptop time at the former Java Jack’s at 46th & Bryant, indoor and outdoor co-working space is opening up.
SoMakers, a “South Minneapolis Maker space,” opens Monday, Aug. 5, and it’s available every day for creative collaborators of all types. The cost of reserving a space comes with coffee, printing and wi-fi.
The building is home to DevJam Studios, a technology coach and producer. DevJam also leases space to MongoDB, an open-source document database.
“Ever since we moved in here, my wife and I have wanted to make sure this becomes a community space,” said DevJam owner David Hussman.
In addition to work spaces in the former café area, DevJam has renovated the basement for a better work atmosphere.
“It used to be smoky rock band; now it’s industrial chic,” Hussman said.
Rooms upstairs are suited for small startups, featuring video conferencing access.
Costs range from a one-day pass for $12 to a month of unlimited access for $175.
