The owners of French Meadow Bakery & Café are opening a new restaurant called Bluestem Bar + Table adjacent to French Meadow.
The new restaurant is set to open Monday, June 17 in a vacant bakery space at 26th & Lyndale. It’s described as a “wine and beer bar and farm-to-table restaurant” in a news release.
“Bluestem and French Meadow share a building, but these are two very different venues. Bluestem’s space and menu are decidedly more upscale and more experiential,” said Lynn Gordon, French Meadow co-owner and founder. “Bluestem Bar + Table honors the culture and history of French Meadow, but takes the experience to a new level.”
The wine bar will have 75 sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines from vineyards across the country and the world. It will also have 16 local and national beers on tap and 40 bottled and canned options.
The restaurant’s menu will highlight organic and sustainable foods and be led by head chef George Lohr.
Bluestem refers to the native Minnesota prairie grass. “The Midwestern tallgrass prairie created the ecosystem responsible for the rich, agricultural soils our country enjoys today,” Gordon said. “And Bluestem’s intention is to educate guests about restorative agriculture, a quiet revolution that promises to restore health to our land, our water and the human community.”
