Goodwill has dropped its plans to build a store and job-training center on the 3000 block of Lyndale.
Lisa Ritter, marketing director for Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, said Goodwill is no longer exploring the project. She did not provide more specific information about the decision.
“Typically when we leave a deal, usually it is because something didn’t meet our needs or it was too expensive,” she said. “We had to walk away from this one.”
Galen Honn owns the H Design Salon property Goodwill was considering, and he said he might file a lawsuit. He said he purchased the adjacent home at 3020 Lyndale Ave. S. at Goodwill’s request, because the company wanted the site for parking.
“I’m stuck with a building I don’t need, and they backed out of the deal,” Honn said.
Honn said he is surprised at the decision, particularly because Goodwill had already met with the neighborhood and consulted with engineers, attorneys and contractors regarding the site.
“I’d like to know why,” he said.
