French Meadow purchasing CC Club

The owners of the CC Club at 26th & Lyndale are retiring and selling the iconic bar to the owners of French Meadow Bakery & Cafe — the bar’s next-door neighbor.

Staff at the French Meadow didn’t want to risk losing their parking lot lease that would be attached to a CC Club sale, so they are purchasing the business, along with the south parking lot.

“We’re not changing anything,” said French Meadow Founder Lynn Gordon. “People were worried that we’re going to make it healthy. I’m not.”

Gordon said her son would help manage the business, and they would keep the “beloved bartenders” on staff.

“It’s a neighborhood icon,” she said. “Who’s going to tamper with that?”

Gordon said CC Club and French Meadow are odd bedfellows — she didn’t taste a beer until age 35 — but she’s feeling good about the transition. She said CC Club owners Moe & Sharon Emard and Linda Rauen approached French Meadow about the sale as they prepared to retire.

“We’ve been through a lot of contemplating, and it’s the right thing to financially do,” Gordon said.
