NOC hosting community forum with Bernie Sanders

Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC) is hosting a community forum Friday featuring presidential candidate Bernie Sanders at the Capri Theater on West Broadway.

The organization has been a leading player in the local discussion on racial equity. Organizers said NOC hasn’t endorsed a candidate but wanted to host a forum to discuss “pressing issues facing black communities.” Hillary Clinton, who is competing with Sanders for the Democratic nomination, declined to participate.

A time hasn’t been determined yet for the event.

“We’re excited for historically marginalized community members to directly engage a presidential candidate, to share directly both the state of urgency and the unlimited opportunity that exists in the black community,” said Anthony Newby, executive director of Neighborhoods Organizing for Change.

Ticket information hasn’t been posted yet. The event will also be livestreamed.
