People who died in Minnesota this year while experiencing homelessness will be honored during the 31st annual Homeless Memorial March and Service on Thursday.
The march and silent vigil will begin 5 p.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center. Marchers will then head to Simpson United Methodist Church, 2740 1st Ave. S., at 6:30 p.m. for a service of remembrance at 6:30 p.m. and a community dinner at 7:30 p.m.
Marchers will carry signs with the name, age and hometown of every person being honored. A candle will be lit for everyone who passed away this year during the memorial service.
The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and Simpson launched the first march and memorial in 1984.
Last year, 158 people who died while homeless in 2014 were honored during the march and vigil.
