Experienced and aspiring ceramic artists are invited to make or glaze a bowl at an upcoming “Pottery Throw-Down” at Fire on the Greenway.
Organizers are aiming to make 120 bowls for the Kingfield Empty Bowls fundraiser in February. At Empty Bowls, donors receive soup in a ceramic bowl that they take home as a reminder of people needing food or housing. The fundraiser benefits Nicollet Square at 37th & Nicollet, which provides studio apartments for 42 youth who are formerly homeless or exiting foster care.
To reserve a wheel for a Nov. 7 throwing shift, contact Jon Loer at [email protected] (Isles Bunn and Coffee will provide coffee and buns for the morning throwers. Afternoon throwers can enjoy wine and “lite bites.”)
Fire on the Greenway is donating the wheels and clay for the throw-down, and visitors are invited to browse artists’ completed work that awaits the annual holiday sale Dec. 4-5.
The event on Saturday, Nov. 7 runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 2845 Harriet Ave. S.
