Thousands lined Hennepin and 7th Street on Friday to celebrate the Minnesota Lynx’ third WNBA championship.
The team paraded down the streets in convertibles as fans cheered them on. A big celebration at Target Center followed the parade shortly after noon.
The Lynx have won three WNBA championships in five years, which has many calling them a sports dynasty. The team earned their third title Wednesday night after beating the Indiana Fever 69-52 at Target Center.
Head Coach Cheryl Reeve credited the team’s strong defense and ability to overcome adversity with the victory. “I think game five tells our story, which is, first and foremost, we didn’t do anything easy,” she said in a statement.
Team center Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx with 20 points and 11 rebounds during the championship game and earned MVP honors for the WNBA Finals.
