Two new “parklets” are complete in Southwest Minneapolis, one in front of Canteen at 33rd & Bryant, the other in front of the Lime Apartments near 29th & Lake.
The mini-park installed on Bryant features chalk board panels, seating, plantings and reclaimed wrought iron fencing. Coordinated by the group Art Parx, the parklet was built with funding from the CARAG neighborhood and a recent fundraiser at Canteen.
On 29th Street, ThreeSeven built an “outdoor deck” with plantings that will sit on the street all summer. Work is underway to find the parklet a permanent home. It was built in partnership with the Lake Street Council and The Musicant Group and funded by a Blue Cross Center for Prevention grant.
“It’s a space for people coming off the Greenway to park their bikes and take a rest,” said Troy Gallas of ThreeSeven.
