Nonprofit hosting free home energy workshops for Mpls residents

North Loop-based Center for Energy and Environment is hosting two free home energy workshops in Minneapolis.

The events will be held Wednesday, June 10, 6:30 p.m. at East Side Neighborhood Services, 1700 2nd St. NE, and Tuesday, June 16, 6:30 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King Recreation Center, 4055 Nicollet Ave. S.

The workshops will feature tips from energy experts and information about home improvement financing options. Attendees can also sign up for a Home Energy Squad Enhanced visit — a special Minneapolis version of the program supported by the Clean Energy Partnership.

The $50 home visit includes a blower door test with an infrared camera inspection to determine insulation gaps, a home heating system safety check and installation of energy-efficient light bulbs and other fixtures.

Program participants also get an “energy fitness plan” with recommendations for other improvements.
