The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a near drowning at Lake Harriet’s North Beach just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, two females, ages 17 and 20, went underwater while trying to swim to a floating dock. The teenager was able to get out of the water, but the 20 year old had to be pulled out by bystanders who administered CPR.
Both were transported to HCMC. The 17 year old is in stable condition and the 20 year old is in serious/stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“I can’t repeat this water safety message enough: Watch, Wear, Learn,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek. “Watch your kids. Wear your lifejacket. Learn to swim.”
