Kingfield will be humming on Thursday as musicians across the neighborhood take up instruments and perform at front porches.

More than 20 bands will play out of their own homes or “donated” porches. A map of performers is available here

Musician Ben Glaros plays with the band Fathom Lane and teaches guitar lessons at Twin Town Guitars. Glaros will perform a solo show with looping and a small amplifier on his front patio. He said Porchfest marks the first performance out of his home on 37th Street near Blaisdell.

“I don’t believe I have, just for my dog,” he said.

Glaros said he’s excited about the concept for Porchfest.

“I’m interested myself in a lot of the people playing,” he said.

Porchfest is new in Kingfield, though the neighborhood tried a similar “reverse caroling” event at Christmastime, in which residents welcomed visitors for caroling at outdoor fires.

“We’re encouraging people to walk through the entire neighborhood,” said Sarah Linnes-Robinson, executive director of the Kingfield Neighborhood Association.

Porchfest runs from 6-9 p.m. on June 18. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.
