Minneapolis’ next Fix-It Tech event will be held on June 26.
At the event, the city and its community partners will be providing technical support and repair services for computers and laptops. Volunteers, including information technology students and local professionals, will also available to teach technology-related skills, answer questions and give advice on where to buy replacement parts.
Attendees will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Service for smart phones and tablets may be provided, depending on the event’s capacity.
Elise Ebhardt of the City of Minneapolis’ information technology department said anyone is welcome to attend the event. Workshops on Internet safety and computer maintenance will be provided throughout the day.
The Fix-It Tech events series has been part of the city’s response to its 2014 Community Technology Survey, which indicated Minneapolis residents are not comfortable in certain areas of technical support, such as backing up files and protecting themselves online.
The Fix-It Tech event runs 11 a.m.–3 p.m. at EMERGE Career Technology Center, 1834 Emerson Ave. N. The city requests attendees bring power cords with their computers or laptops.
