Police report Whittier’s second shooting death this year

Police responded to a report of shots fired before 2 a.m. May 10 at Pillsbury Avenue north of Lake Street and arrived to find a man dead in the street.

“Preliminary investigation yields that people had a confrontation at the location and one person started shooting,” police said in a statement.

The victim, who died of multiple gunshot wounds, is Brooklyn Park resident Abdiaziz Salah Farah, age 27, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police said in a May 11 news release that no one is in custody in connection with the incident.

The shooting death is the second in the Whittier neighborhood in the past week. The neighborhood recorded no homicides in 2014, and three in 2013.
