Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association distributes facade improvement grants

The city has awarded $50,000 in facade improvement grants for disbursement by the Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association.

NEHBA staff say they typically award all grants within one year, with funding often distributed within the first six months. The organization encourages shops to hire local contractors for the work, and encourages energy efficiency in new windows, doors and lighting.

Past recipients of the city grant include Jersey Mike’s Subs on Lake Street and Lake Harriet Florist at 50th & Penn.

“By the end of this grant cycle, NEHBA will have distributed over $325,000 in Great Streets grant funds, matched by over $675,000 in other funding sources for a total of over $1 million dollars in improvements contributing to the revitalization of our neighborhoods,” NEHBA said in a statement.
