Bellwether Media publishes 180 children’s books per year, so it has plenty of titles on hand to stock its new Little Free Library.
“We’re seeing a lot of traffic,” said founder John Martin. “We see a lot of families walk to it from the neighborhood and grab a book.”
The booth at 5357 Penn Ave. S. was manufactured by local craftsman Tim McClellan.
Martin said passersby often wonder what Bellwether Media does, and the library offers them a look inside. The company’s “Blastoff! Readers” and “Torque Books” brands are available in most U.S. libraries, targeted at beginning and struggling readers.
“Most of our business happens outside Minnesota,” Martin said. “We really want to support the community we’re in.”
The company recently started a new volunteer program that sends employees to read with students at Armatage School.
