Minneapolis Animal Control euthanizes violent dog

A dog that attacked and killed a small dog April 20 at Martin Luther King Park has been euthanized, according to city officials.

The dog was determined to be a boxer — not a boxer-pitbull mix as witnesses previously believed.

Minneapolis Animal Care & Control evaluated the dog and decided it was dangerous and should be destroyed, according to city spokesman Casper Hill. He said the dog’s family did not appeal the decision.

In a Facebook post, the dog victim’s owners Julene Lind and Steve Rosch thanked the community for its outpouring of support.

“The Minneapolis police dept worked really fast and hard to locate the family walking the dog,” they said in a Facebook post. “Pressure was applied and they brought the [dog] in to animal control. This could not have happened without all the community tips. … Ziggy does not come home but seems like she got a little justice!”
