Mid-February crime update

ARMATAGE

Feb. 18, 7 a.m. / 5500 block of Penn Avenue South

An unknown suspect entered a home and stole various items, included some electronics. The victim was out of the country at the time of the crime. Possible prints of the suspect were lifted from the scene.

CEDAR-ISLES-DEAN

Feb. 14, 9 p.m. / 2400 block of Sheridan Avenue South

While on the scene of a previous incident, and officer noticed the garage door open to another home. The officer spoke with the home owner who was not aware of the situation. Inside the garage, a bike was missing and a different bike was left in its place. The bike was inventoried.

Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. / 3200 block of Lake Street West

An officer responded to a call of a hit and run at the above location. A 48-year-old woman stated that an unknown vehicle struck her car in the rear and sped away without leaving any contact information. The woman was not injured.

+ Feb. 23, 2 a.m. / 3100 block of Lake Street West

An officer witnessed a 37-year-old man push a woman inside a local restaurant. The man was escorted from the establishment and asked to leave the area. He refused to leave and stated, according to the police report, that he “was going to kick the officer’s a**,” and pushed the officer. The man was arrested with force at booked at Hennepin County Jail for disorderly conduct.

WHITTIER

Feb. 20, 11:30 a.m. / 2300 block of Pleasant Avenue South

A 31-year-old man found his vehicle the target of an attempted theft, with the driver’s window cracked, and visible damage indicated the suspect had attempted to pry open the door. The building manager would review the security tape from the underground garage for any possible suspect information.

Feb. 20, 11:50 a.m. / 2300 block of Pleasant Avenue South

A 24-year-old woman stated that while she was away on vacation someone broke into her locked vehicle and caused damage to the car. There was no suspect information available.

Feb. 22, 1:50 a.m. / Blaisdell Avenue South & Lake Street West

A vehicle was observed traveling the wrong way on Blaisdell Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle, but before they were able to catch up, the first vehicle struck a second car head on. The driver of the first vehicle was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and the second driver was cited for driving without a license. Both vehicles were towed to the Impound Lot.

Feb. 22–23, overnight / 2500 block of Blaisdell Avenue South

Officers were dispatched to the above location regarding numerous vehicles that were damaged and broken into. In the underground parking lot of the apartment building, 10 different vehicles were forcibly entered, and various items had been taken. The garage had security camera’s and the landlord was contacted to obtain any footage of the incident.

LINDEN HILLS

Feb. 23, 11:35 a.m. / 4100 block of Lake Harriet Parkway

An agent on routine patrol of Lake Harriet observed a 42-year-old man snowshoeing with two dogs off-leash. The man was cited for not leashing his dogs.

UPTOWN

Feb. 21, 8 p.m. / 3000 block of Hennepin Avenue South

An employee of a local business stated that an unknown suspect entered the retail store and stole various items. The suspect pushed the employee, causing her to hit a glass window and hurt her hip. There was no video surveillance in the store.

KENNY

Feb. 20, 7:20 a.m. / 5400 block of Lyndale Avenue South

An employee of a business observed a 41-year-old woman conceal merchandise in her purse. The suspect approached the counter and attempted to purchase a gift card with a credit card, and did not attempt to pay for the concealed items. The suspect was attempting to use a credit card belonging to another person, and was subsequently arrested.

+ Feb. 22, 7:30 a.m. / 5600 block of Lyndale Avenue South

A 48-year-old woman stated that her husband of 35 years threw a beer can at her face, cutting her lower lip, while the 55-year-old husband stated that his wife had first stabbed him. Both parties received medial attention.

LYNNHURST

Feb. 22, 2:30 p.m. / 5200 block of Lyndale Avenue South

A 59-year-old woman returned to her car to find the driver side widow smashed in. Her leather purse had been taken, and there was no usable evidence.

LOWRY HILL EAST

Feb. 7–22 / 2200 block of Bryant Avenue South

An unknown suspect stole the bicycle of a 25-year-old woman from the back rack in the garage of her apartment. The front tire was locked to the rack, but the rest of the bike was taken.

Feb. 20, 1 a.m. / 2500 block of Lyndale Avenue South

A witness observed a vehicle traveling very fast hit a parked vehicle and continue traveling. He followed the vehicle to obtain its license plate number, and included this information on the note he left on the victim’s car.

WINDOM

Feb. 23, 6:40 p.m. / 3300 block of Nicollet Avenue South

An officer responded to a call regarding a person with a gun, and found a person matching the description of the suspect to be in possession of a felony amount of marijuana. The 43-year-old man was booked on narcotics charges at Hennepin County Jail.
