Precinct caucuses are on Feb. 4

Precinct caucuses are Tuesday, Feb. 4 — the first major event of the year for political parties.

Caucus goers vote on delegates to attend endorsing conventions and discuss party issues and platforms, among other things.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said caucuses are great way for people to get involved in their community.

“Your political party’s platform starts at the caucus with the ideas and voices of its supporters,” he said. “Neighborhood caucuses provide a rich and productive environment for people to get involved in their party’s activities and the political process.”

The Secretary of State website ( will post results of straw polls for the governor’s race conducted at the caucuses.
