Lyndale School insurance will help defray cost of playground arson

Lyndale Community School staff aren’t sure if they need financial help to replace playground equipment damaged by arson in early September.

According to Council Member Elizabeth Glidden (8th Ward), Minneapolis Public Schools are self-insured to fund the replacement.

“If additional support is needed, Lyndale School will let the community know how we can help,” Glidden said in a recent newsletter.

In 2009, the community raised more than $7,000 to help replace new equipment at Lyndale School, when another arson incident damaged a large slide.
