On May 1, the Minneapolis Park Board will temporarily close the new off-leash dog area at Lyndale Farmstead Park so that final construction work can be completed.
The Park Board expects to welcome dogs again sometime in early summer. The off-leash dog area had opened in January in order to give anxious users a preview.
For those keeping track, the Park Board has also given the dog park an official name: Lyndale Farmstead Off-Leash Recreation Area, but for short it can be called Lyndale Farmstead Dog Park.
The Park Board will construct a concrete entrance off of Dupont Avenue and add benches and a shade feature. Landscape plantings will be used to set up a perimeter.
A permit is needed to use Minneapolis dog parks. You can obtain one by calling customer service at 612-230-6400 or purchase one online at www.minneapolisparks.org/dogparks.
