The Minneapolis Planning Commission approved plans Jan. 7 for a new Goodwill store at the vacant Perkins at 6015-6029 Nicollet Ave.
Goodwill will span two stories and 20,000 square feet, with retail on both floors. It will include a donation drop-off area on the south side of the building, and a 32-space parking lot on the north side of the building. Donations will be sold at the store or recycled, with proceeds benefiting Goodwill’s job training program.
The city will prohibit merchandise from blocking the ground-floor windows, and will require the project to be complete by January 2015.
Goodwill has also proposed a new location at the 3000 block of Lyndale, but has not yet submitted those plans for city approval.
