Amore Victoria raises more than $15,000 for condo fire victims

Amore Victoria has raised more than $15,000 for the people displaced by the fire that destroyed an Uptown condo building on Dec. 28.

Restaurant owner Jenna Victoria said she’s been overwhelmed by the generosity of the community. The restaurant has also collected $1,400 worth of Target gift cards for the people displaced by the fire on the 1500 block of West Lake Street.

The restaurant at 1601 W. Lake St. held a silent auction for the condo fire victims Jan. 9. It also opened the “Uptown Condo Fire Fund,” which allows people to make donations at Wells Fargo branches.

The fire at the three-story, eight-unit condo building was caused by unattended candles, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department. Thirteen people were displaced by the fire.
