Affordable housing developer rebrands as Portico

The affordable housing developer formerly known as the Plymouth Church Neighborhood Foundation has changed its name to the Portico Interfaith Housing Collaborative.

The organization founded by Plymouth Congregational Church 12 years ago has developed 16 affordable housing developments in the Twin Cities, including the Nicollet Square project in Kingfield and Creekside Commons in Windom. The foundation’s first housing development was Lydia Apartments — a former nursing home that was renovated to make way for 40 apartments for people experiencing long-term homelessness.

“We have grown and changed exponentially since our founding 12 years ago by Plymouth Congregational Church,” said Lee Blons, Portico’s executive director, in a news release. “We now partner with more than 50 congregations in the Twin Cities to provide shelter through our Families Moving Forward program and to create affordable housing. Our new name reflects the wider scope and broader reach of work today.”

Community vote on Linden Hills Small Area Plan

The community vote will be held at the Linden Hills Park building on Tuesday, Oct. 23, where residents can obtain and cast their votes between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
