Aug. 3, overnight

2200 block of Robbins St.

An unknown person broke into an unlocked car. The suspect then used the remote-controlled garage door opener to open and enter the garage, where he or she stole various items.




Aug. 5, 3 p.m.

3300 block of Colfax Ave. S.

A woman reported an unknown man walking around her house, looking in the windows and knocking on doors. She was not expecting company. The man then attempted to enter the house through a window, but stopped when he saw the woman and another person inside. Police caught the suspect walking away from the house.

Aug. 5, 11:15 p.m.

3200 block of Dupont Ave. S.

Two suspects attempted to steal a man’s car. One drove it into a light post, and both fled the scene when a witness started to approach.




Aug. 1, 5 a.m.

2700 block of France Ave. S.

A woman told police her husband left for a morning walk and returned an hour later to find the garage service door open and two bikes missing. The garage had not been locked. Two unknown bikes were left in the driveway.




Aug. 6, overnight

4400 block of Colfax Ave. S.

A person smashed the right side rear window of a car and stole 15 golf clubs in a bag, along with several other items.




Aug. 2, 6:30 p.m.

3600 block of 1st Ave. S.

A man tried to enter a residence by cutting a window screen and pushing in the air conditioning unit. He attempted to flee when police arrived, but they caught and arrested him.




Aug. 1, evening

1700 block of Dupont Ave. S.

A man reported 20 Vicodin missing from their bottle. He did not know who had taken them. No evidence was collected.




Aug. 4, 2 p.m.

Ducati Minneapolis, 2800 block of Lyndale Ave. S.

A man took a motorcycle for a 30-minute test drive. He did not return.

Aug. 8, 7 p.m.

Blowdry!, 1200 block of Lagoon Ave. S.

A manager left her phone on the desk while she got a broom from the back room. When she returned, a book was out of place and the phone was gone. There was a smudged handprint on the freshly cleaned glass door.




Aug. 4, overnight

3300 block of Nicollet Ave. S.

An unknown person entered a ground floor apartment, leaving no signs of forced entry. They took items from the top of a bedroom dresser.

Aug. 4, morning 

100 block of W. Lake St.

A woman parked her car in a lot on Aug. 3, entered a business and lost her keys. She looked around the building for the keys and asked if anyone had encountered them, but no one had. She returned to the lot the next morning to meet a locksmith, and the car was gone. It had not been towed.




Aug. 3, 8:30 p.m.

3100 block of Pillsbury Ave. S.

A woman accidentally left her cell phone on a picnic table while she went inside to put away groceries. Eight to 10 men were sitting at the tables. When she returned, the phone was gone. She confronted the men, but they laughed and drove away from the area. 

Aug. 6, 6:45 a.m.

2600 block of Garfield Ave. S.

A man broke into the laundry room of an apartment building and took coins from the machines. Someone reported the crime after viewing security footage of the act and identified the door where the suspect entered. Police later caught the suspect leaving the building again with coins and assorted tools in his pockets.
