Lyndale

Lyn Lake Street Festival returns May 20

The Lyn Lake Street Festival returns for its fourth year on Sunday, May 20.

The biggest change for this year’s festival, which spans a two-block stretch of Lyndale between 28th and Lake streets, is that there will be dual stages set up on the bridge over the Midtown Greenway.

Organizers have scheduled nine bands for the festival, including Koo Koo Kanga Roo, Halloween, Alaska and Night Moves.

Street food, arts and craft booths and other entertainment are also planned for the event, which will run from noon to 7 p.m.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Blaisdell YMCA and the Lyn Lake Business Association. Tips from the beer booths go to the Joyce Food Shelf.

Last year, organizers say they were able to raise $23,000 at the festival.

KINGFIELD AND FULTON

The Kingield and Fulton farmers markets taking EBT cards

The Kingfield and Fulton farmers markets will accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards for the first time this year, officials have announced.

The markets are among 24 locations in Minnesota that are now able to accept payments from EBT card holders. The cards are issued to low-income residents through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

EBT shoppers can also receive “market bucks,” which match the first $5 in EBT purchases, at each of the farmers markets.

The Fulton Farmers Market open on Saturday, May 19 and the Kingfield Farmers Market opens on Sunday, May 20.
