Police make arrest in connection with string of Walgreens robberies

Minneapolis police announced earlier today that an arrest has been made in connection with a string of robberies at local Walgreens pharmacies.

Vincent Mark Smith, 25, was arrested Nov. 26 outside the Walgreens store 5415 Lyndale Ave. S. in Tangletown, police said in a press release.

Police believe Smith was responsible for the robbery of the Walgreens at 2426 Hennepin Ave. S. on the morning of Nov. 23. In that incident, the suspect flashed a handgun at pharmacy staff then left the store with “a loss.” Police haven’t specified whether the loss consisted of drugs, money or both.

Police also believe Smith is responsible for the Nov. 18 robbery of the Walgreens at 3240 W. Lake St. and the Nov. 20 robbery of a Walgreens in Hopkins.

Smith is being charged with two counts of simple robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery in connection with the Minneapolis incidents. Charges were also filed against Smith in connection with the Hopkins robbery, police said.
