EAST ISLES — The Walgreens store at 2426 Hennepin Ave. S. was robbed just before 8 a.m. this morning.
Minneapolis Police Sgt. William Palmer said an adult male entered the store and displayed a handgun to pharmacy employees. He then left the store “with a loss,” though Palmer wouldn’t clarify whether the suspect left the store with money, drugs or both.
A pharmacy employee reached around 9:30 a.m. confirmed the robbery, but said he didn’t have time to talk about the incident and then hung up the phone.
A customer who entered the store shortly after the robbery said he thought the incident “could be drug related.”
The suspect has not yet been located, and Palmer said police won’t release a suspect description at this time.
