3500 block of Holmes Ave. S.
July 8, 3 p.m.

An 86-year-old woman had a tenant who decided to suddenly move out for no reason. A mover came and took the woman’s dining room table and chairs. The tenant left a child’s table and chairs where the dining set should have been.

3000 block of James Ave. S.
July 9, 11:30 a.m.

A 33-year-old woman was working at a garage sale when a customer distracted her. Her purse that was hidden under a newspaper was stolen.



Franklin & Lake of the Isles
July 9, 10:30 a.m.

A 29-year-old woman parked her car on Lake Isles Parkway. She had lost the key with the remote unlock and panic buttons in the same area the week before. When she returned to her car it was gone.



200 block of W. 42nd St.; July 6, 11 p.m.
An older couple, husband and wife, witnessed an unknown person try to force their way into a 37-year-old woman’s house. The attempt was unsuccessful, but damage was done to the screen door of the house.

4300 block of Pillsbury Ave. S.
July 6, 7:44 a.m.

A 60-year-old woman confronted a burglar as the burglar was cutting the screen of her screen door. The burglar was seen leaving the area and her home in a white vehicle.

A 29-year-old woman said she was punched in the face by an unknown male attacker while he attempted to steal her purse.

3400 block of Nicollet Ave. S.
July 5, 3:55 a.m.

A 23-year-old woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle at a gas station when an unknown person came out of the gas station and approached her. The person told her to get out of the car, got into the driver’s seat and left the gas station headed north on Nicollet Avenue.



1800 block of W. 49th St.
July 7, 12 a.m.

A 57-year-old man and his family were asleep in their home when a burglar entered through an unlocked first-floor window and stole two laptops, a briefcase and $1,200 cash. A bicycle was found in the bushes behind the family’s house after the incident.

1804 Nicollet Ave. S.
July 6, 3:40 p.m.

An employee at Frattallone’s Ace Hardware witnessed an unknown person trying to cut the wire on the lawnmowers with bolt cutter. The person had previously asked the manager to look at the bolt cutter and left the store without paying for the tool.


The Wedge

28th & Lyndale; July 8th, 4 p.m.
The construction site of a multi-level apartment complex was burglarized. Police believe the suspects climbed a chain link fence and broke a plywood door to enter the building. They got away with copper tubing and copper wire, including wire taken from within the walls and a 1,000-foot spool of copper wire.



22nd & 2nd; July 5, 10:34 p.m.
An officer was driving eastbound on 22nd Street when the squad car’s license plate reader hit on a stolen vehicle parked on the north side of the street. A 46-year-old man found in the back of the van was booked for automobile theft.



5500 block of Grand Ave. S.
July 11, 10 a.m.

A 48-year-old woman was out walking her dog when a burglar entered her house by removing a screen from her window. The burglar stole a laptop computer, cash and some antique jewelry valued at about $4,000–$5,000. Police believe the burglar left through the back door.

6100 block of Oliver Ave. S.
June 27, between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old woman said she left her dog in her car overnight. She said she left food and water in the car and also left the windows cracked. The woman said she went out to the car every few hours to walk the dog. When she came to the car at noon the next day, the dog was gone. The woman called the humane society and paid a visit to animal control, but was unable to find the dog. The woman said she believed one of her neighbors broke into her car and took the dog.

Morning of June 23

A 56-year-old woman reported the theft of a bicycle from her home’s unattached garage. Police found no signs of forced entry.



5500 block of James Ave. S.
June 27, 3:45 p.m.

A 32-year-old man reported the burglary of his single-family residence. The suspected burglar appeared to have entered the home through a pried-open bedroom window. The incident was under investigation.

June 23, 11:30 a.m.

An unknown man robbed Minneapolis Lock and Key at gunpoint. Police responded and tried unsuccessfully to send a canine after the suspect. The business lost $300.



Nicollet & 32nd
June 21, 12:30 p.m.

An officer saw a stolen vehicle speeding through a stop sign at the intersection of West 32nd Street and Nicollet Avenue South. The officer followed the vehicle before the driver jumped out of the vehicle at the intersection of West 33rd Street and Pleasant Avenue South. The man ran off. Officers jumped into the still­-running vehicle to stop it from crashing. Officers were unable to catch the suspect. The stolen vehicle was taken to an impound lot.

June 22, 9:15 p.m.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested and jailed on suspicion of felony third-degree assault for injuring a 45-year-old man inside Champions Sports Bar and Grill. The woman allegedly hit the man on the head with a bar glass, cutting him above the left eye. A second man, age 56, was reportedly cut in the chest by glass shards during the alleged assault. The first man was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the second man drove himself to the hospital.

June 26, 1:30 p.m.
A 46-year-old man said another man came up to him, took his cell phone and headed east on Lake Street.



1900 block of W. 49th St.
Night of June 24 or morning of June 25

A 54-year-old woman went to the 5th Precinct Police station to report the theft of a bicycle from her garage. She told police she believed the garage had been locked, but investigators found no signs of forced entry.



5425 Nicollet Ave. S.
June 22, 7:41 p.m.
Police responded to a reported theft from Diamond Lake ACE Hardware. A suspect allegedly entered the store, picked up a cordless drill from a shelf and walked around the store before running out the front door without paying. An employee saw the suspect get into a vehicle and drive north on Nicollet Avenue.



Fremont & Lagoon, June 26,
between 2:10 p.m. and 5:40 p.m.

A 74-year-old woman parked her vehicle and went to a movie. When she returned, she could not find her vehicle, but later told police she may have forgotten where she parked it. The woman had her keys and said she locked her doors. The woman and an officer searched the area, but could not find her vehicle.



3000 block of Ewing Ave. S.
June 26, between 2 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old woman said she parked her vehicle in front of a house and when she returned the vehicle was missing. The woman said she locked one of her keys in the center console but had the other key.



224 W. Lake St.
June 21, 1:20 a.m.

An unknown suspect used a large concrete block to break the glass main door of American Dream Services and steal an item from the business. The stolen item was not specified in the police report. Police responded to the scene, but the victim had fled.

June 25, 11:52 a.m.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon. A 51-year-old man told police he was the victim of an assault with a gun by the other man, who lives on the block. The police report did not note any injuries, and the incident remained under investigation.

2000 block of Nicollet Ave. S.
June 27, 11 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery. A suspect attempted to take a man’s medication, and when the man refused, the hit the man and fled the scene with his medication, joined by another suspect. The victim told police he thought he could identify the man who hit him.
