A string of garage robberies took place on the evening of Aug. 31 and early morning hours of Sept. 1 on and around the 6000 block of Morgan Ave. S. The trend for the robberies was that the suspect usually got into the garage through an unlocked service door and went riffling through vehicles in the garage.
• 6025 Morgan Ave.: After entering through a service door, the suspect rummaged through a vehicle and took items.
• 6024 Logan Ave.: Suspect entered garage through unlocked service door and took items from a vehicle inside.
• 6023 Vincent Ave.: Suspect entered through unlocked service door of a garage and ransacked a vehicle, taking two iPods and a cell phone. The suspect made a call from the phone at 3:45 a.m. the next morning.
• 5716 Morgan Ave.: Suspect entered through unlocked service door and took items.
Sept. 4, 7:18 p.m. 3018 Hennepin Ave. S.
The manager of the Apple store reported that a suspect took an iPhone and left the store. The manager said the store was tracking the location of the phone but it had been turned off and they could no longer track it.
Sept. 6, 3:30 a.m. 3800 Grand Ave. S.
The front door of Better Than Ever clothing store was smashed with a brick, but no one entered the store and nothing was taken.
Sept. 3, 6:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Near the Lake Harriet band shell
A man locked his bike at a bike rack just east of the Lake Harriet band shell. When he returned his bike and lock were missing.
Sept. 3, 8 a.m. 3532 Pillsbury Ave. S.
A woman parked her vehicle behind a residence and when she returned to the parking spot her vehicle was gone. She did not leave the keys in the vehicle. The woman said the brakes on the vehicle did not work.
Aug. 31, 7:45 p.m. 5105 Logan Ave. S.
A suspect entered an unlocked detached garage. The suspect took a stereo from a vehicle in the garage and also a stereo on a shelf in the garage. No damage was done to the garage or the vehicle.
Sept. 1, 3 a.m. 5140 Irving Ave. S.
An unknown suspect took a garage door opener from a vehicle in the driveway of a home. The suspect used the opener to get into the garage and entered the home through a door in the garage. While the residents were sleeping, the suspect took items from the house.
+ Aug. 31, 12:30 a.m.19th Street East/Nicollet Avenue South
A 21-year-old man was approached by an unknown suspect who demanded with a knife that the victim give him his fanny pack that was filled with cash, traveler’s checks and a passport. The suspect then left and officers could not find him.
Sept. 5, 5:30 p.m. 2711 Lake St. W.
An officer was called to the scene and found a 19-year-old man and 21-year-old woman spray painting a tree on Minneapolis Park & Recreation property. The two were cited for misdemeanor damage to property.
Sept. 1, 1:30 a.m. 5653 Wentworth Ave. S.
A man left his vehicle parked behind his residence. When he came outside he discovered his vehicle had been ransacked and items had been taken.
+ Sept. 4, 4:15 p.m. 123 59th St. E
A man suffered minor injuries after his wife assaulted him with a knife. The wife was arrested and charged with second-degree domestic assault.
Sept. 4. 7:30 p.m. 5435 Lyndale Ave. S.
A man went to work at Walgreen’s and parked his car outside the store with his windows left slightly opened. When he returned to his vehicle after work he discovered his car stereo was taken and damage was done to his center console.
+ Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. 2640 Stevens Ave. S.
A 28-year-old man and a 49-year-old man were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center after they were stabbed. A suspect fled the scene after officers arrived.
+ Sept. 2, 10:45 p.m. 2443 Pleasant Ave. S.
Two 28-year-old men were robbed at gunpoint. They were not injured. Numerous police squads searched the area for suspects but could find none.
+ Sept. 4, 2:15 a.m. 2636 Pillsbury Ave. S.
A 24-year-old man sustained moderate injuries to his face after being robbed by a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman. The two suspects were arrested.
