The City of Minneapolis Regulatory, Energy and Environment committee today recommended that the City Council approve a request from Stella’s Fish Café to add a rooftop patio atop the restaurant’s existing patio that would seat 48 people.
The committee added conditions to its recommendation, which Stella’s has agreed to.
Those conditions include:
• That the restaurant stop serving on the new patio at midnight and all customers are off the deck by 12:30 a.m.
• That a six-foot wall be built on the south and east sides of the new deck
• That a six-foot wall be built on the south side of the existing patio level and extend 14 feet along the east side.
• That no speakers or amplified sound be played on the new patio.
Those conditions are the recommendations made by a private company that did a sound management study of Stella’s.
At the request of City Council member Meg Tuthill, the Council will consider requiring that Stella’s add a similar wall on the north side of the building so as to reduce noise traveling into Lowry Hill East. The Council will discuss that request at its 10 a.m. Aug. 19 Committee of the Whole meeting.
