Arrests were made at a suspected Uptown brothel in late April stemming from an investigation that began in March.
Undercover officers visited Diamond Therapeutic Massage, located on the corner of Hennepin Avenue and 34th Street above Dunn Bros., on three separate occasions during the month of April, and on one occasion an officer was solicited for sex for money, according to Minneapolis Police Spokesman Sgt. William Palmer.
A search warrant issued on April 28 led to the seizing of appointment books, credit card slips and receipts, according to Palmer.
He said a total of four arrests were made after the search was conducted. One female was arrested for gross misdemeanor prostitution, and three other females were cited for participation in a disorderly house.
Palmer said one of the females cited was responsible for managing the brothel.
Diamond Therapeutic Massage shares the complex with a Dunn Bros Coffee Shop.
Sanjeev Azad, who is an employee of the coffee shop, said he has been noticing “shady activity” around the massage parlor since October.
Upon noticing the suspicious activity, Azad said employees of the coffee shop notified police immediately, but action was not taken until recently.
“It was too late,” Azad said. “This should have been taken care of quite some time ago.”
As of today, Diamond Therapeutic Massage’s number was still in service and answered by an employee; however, the employee declined to comment.
Palmer said the investigation has officially closed.
